songspot Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how songspot handles information when you visit songspot.co, play the browser-based song guessing game, or use an optional account feature. In this policy, “songspot,” “we,” “us,” and “the service” refer to the operator of songspot.co.

You can play the core game without creating an account.

2. Information We Process

Game activity

To run a round, the service processes information such as the selected difficulty, genre, era, or artist; the current round and clip stage; song-title searches; submitted guesses; skips; and whether an answer was correct. This information is used to return the game result, prevent a round from being reused incorrectly, and operate rate limits.

Browser storage and cookies

songspot may use:

• Session storage to remember recently seen round identifiers during the current browser session. This helps reduce repeated tracks and is normally cleared when the browser session ends.
• A locale cookie to remember your language choice.
• Authentication and security cookies if you sign in or use an account feature.
• Game progress in session storage to restore supported rounds when you return within the same browser session.
• A Daily Challenge session cookie (songspot_daily_session) to recognize your daily player session. This first-party cookie is configured to expire after one year; clearing it may prevent recovery of the associated player profile.

You can clear cookies and site storage through your browser settings. Clearing them may reset language, session, or game-history preferences.

Optional account information

If you create or connect an account, we may process the name, email address, verification status, authentication-provider identifiers, account sessions, and security records needed to provide and protect that account. Do not create an account if you do not want this information processed.

Technical and usage information

Our hosting and security providers may process request data such as IP address, browser and device information, timestamps, requested URLs, error details, and security signals. If analytics, advertising, or customer-support tools are enabled, those providers may also receive usage events or identifiers according to their own policies and our configuration.

Daily Challenge profiles and leaderboard

If you create a Daily Challenge player profile, we process the nickname you choose and the attempts, scores and completion times associated with that profile. Leaderboard entries can display your nickname and game results publicly. Use a nickname rather than an email address, full name or other identifying information. Contact us if you need help with a profile or a public entry.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Deliver song rounds, audio previews, search suggestions, guesses, skips, scores, and results.
• Remember language and session preferences.
• Operate optional accounts and authentication.
• Detect abuse, enforce rate limits, secure the service, and investigate errors.
• Measure and improve reliability, compatibility, content coverage, and user experience.
• Respond to support, privacy, or legal requests.
• Comply with applicable law and protect users, the service, and third parties.

4. Third-Party Services

songspot relies on service providers that may process information on our behalf or receive requests directly from your browser:

• Cloudflare provides hosting, network delivery, security, and database infrastructure.
• Music catalog and audio-preview providers supply track metadata and preview audio. Where shown, outbound links may open Apple Music or another third-party music service. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services.
• Optional analytics, advertising, authentication, and support providers are used only when those integrations are enabled.

Third-party music names, previews, artwork, and trademarks belong to their respective owners. songspot is not endorsed by or affiliated with those rightsholders unless explicitly stated.

Google advertising and analytics

We use Google AdSense to request advertising. When ads are served, Google and other third-party advertising providers may place or read cookies, use web beacons, and process IP addresses, browser or device information and other identifiers to deliver and measure ads, limit repeated ads and detect fraud. Google advertising cookies can enable Google and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and other websites. Whether personalized ads are available depends on the applicable requirements, your choices and the advertising configuration.
