Read Spotle clues together: green is a match, yellow is close, and gray is different. Words and arrows explain the result, so color is never your only guide. Your newest guess appears first.
3. Narrow it down
Use each Spotle guess to narrow the artist's debut era, lineup and musical style. Find the exact name within ten tries; matching attributes alone is not a win. Share the spoiler-free result after finishing.
Debut album
Spotle uses the original year of the first full-length studio album. Only artists without one would use an EP or mixtape. A difference of up to five years is yellow; ↑ means later, ↓ earlier. For example, a 2000 guess against a 2005 answer is yellow with ↑.
Members
In Spotle, solo means one artist. Bands use a fixed, documented recording lineup, not everyone who ever joined. Equal counts are green; all other counts are gray. Open a guess's details to see the chosen members.
Wiki rank
The Spotle Wiki rank compares human visits to each artist’s canonical English Wikipedia article in August 2026 within this 123-artist pool. It is not a Spotify chart or global music ranking. A difference of up to three places is yellow. ↑ means a better rank (smaller number); ↓ means a larger number.
Gender
Spotle uses publicly documented gender information for the same selected lineup as the member count. Categories are male, female, mixed and nonbinary. Only an exact category match is green.
Music genre
Each Spotle artist has one reviewed main category, fixed for this version. Rock subgenres share Rock; Latin pop, trap and reggaeton use Latin. K-Pop remains separate from Pop. Only exact category matches are green.
Country / region
For Spotle, country or region means a solo artist’s primary musical association or a group’s formation origin, not exclusive legal citizenship. Equal regions are green; different regions on the same continent are yellow. Puerto Rico and Barbados belong to North America in this game.
Spotle uses a fixed Wikimedia Pageviews snapshot. English-language readership and news events can affect visits. Ties are resolved by stable artist ID. This snapshot stays fixed for the puzzle season; playing never calls Wikipedia or an audio service. Saved games keep the artist pool and rankings from when they started.

Make each Spotle guess count
Start with an artist you know, then use the result to make your next pick more specific. In Spotle, a matching genre is useful, but it does not prove the artist is correct. Combine it with debut-year arrows, lineup size and region feedback. The Wiki rank arrow follows the dated attention list: a higher rank means a smaller number. Treat Spotle as a process of elimination rather than a speed test. A yellow country clue in Spotle means the same continent, not necessarily neighboring countries.

Spotle uses the first full-length studio album, not a first single, group debut, live album or compilation. For example, BTS uses Dark & Wild (2014), not the 2013 single album. Each guess’s details name the release.

No. Your Spotle progress is saved on the server. Refreshing, returning or changing language in the same browser restores it through an independent cookie. Clearing cookies or using another browser starts a separate session. No account is needed.
